Service Description

Our classic design that started it all. Over-door lofts are the ideal way to turn the wasted space above your garage door into an organizational paradise! This loft design creates ~220 square feet of additional storage space (20'x11'). Thats like discovering two hidden bedrooms in your home solely dedicated to organization! The platform goes from wall to wall without any intermediate support*, and extends from the front of your garage back past the garage door opener motor. Whether its food storage, memorabilia, hoarded toilet paper, camping equipment, seasonal decorations, winter gear, tools, boxes of clothes, children's toys, or any of a million other things cluttering your garage, kitchen, closets, basement, bedroom or shed, our over-door lofts keep your items safe, secure, accessible and out of the way. Not only that, an over-door loft saves you the struggle of constantly hauling boxes and items up and down ladders. Looking for Great-Aunt Mabel's doilies? Search through each tote up in the loft itself. Don't remember what box your ski gloves are in? You can search them all without breaking a sweat (or collar bone). Need to reorganize things so you can access seasonal deco easier? Slide things around, it's not gonna eat up your entire weekend anymore. We warranty our over-door lofts for 20 lbs./square foot. For a 20'x11' loft, that is more than 2 tons. (They are designed using 30 lbs/square foot calculations). It's not very common, but if you plan on putting more than 2 baby humpback whales of stuff up there, let us know, we can design for that. To keep a clean look, we disconnect your garage door struts from the ceiling and reattach them to the loft structure. This is included in the service. This service pairs really well with attic stairs - or custom traditional stairs, which allow you to avoid ladders altogether and march boxes and totes right up and down without a fuss. In some cases we are even able to connect these stairs right to your existing garage door landing, which is especially convenient. To qualify for this service you need: 1- ~36" or more space between the high point of your garage assembly (typically where the chain rail mounts to the front wall over the door) 2- A 2-car space between 18' and 21' wide. (Longer and shorter spans can be done, but are individually quoted). *3-car garages are no problem, we simply add a support post to take the place of the opposite wall.
